I loved seeing <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410377/">Nim's Island</a> with Simone, my 10 year old daughter. We did the green thing, rode bikes which is easy in Pasadena, stopped for a Mako Bowl, which we shared, then off to the film. Entertaining. Not good but Entertaining. Not a small e, a big one which made it sort of worth the ticket price.<br /><br />Storyline was forced. Cute symbolic reference to her earlier film <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0258000/">Panic Room</a>-- "trapped in a house" and <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408790/">Flightplan</a>--"the plane, the plane...!" but it was <span style="font-style: italic;">entertaining</span>. Ms. Foster plays an agoraphobic writer who struggles with her inner/outer demons and saves the kid?...herself?...gets a man? was she even looking for one? I DON'T KNOW!!! This is the problem with the film in a nutshell.<br />BUT, I give diva points for her slightly aged hotness and some chaplin-esque slapstick humor to boot. <br />It charmed me.<br />Touched some faded lesbian thing in me. I kept chuckling at the wrong times and whispering to Simone some random Jodie Foster lesbian fact. She told me to be quite so she could hear the film.
