We biked to Nim's Island...whew!

I can't help it. I loved seeing Nim's Island with Simone, my 10 year old daughter. We did the green thing, rode bikes which is easy in Pasadena, stopped for a Mako Bowl, which we shared, then off to the film. Entertaining. Not good but Entertaining. Not a small e, a big one which made it sort of worth the ticket price.

Storyline was forced. Cute symbolic reference to her earlier film Panic Room-- "trapped in a house" and Flightplan--"the plane, the plane...!" but it was entertaining. Ms. Foster plays an agoraphobic writer who struggles with her inner/outer demons and saves the kid?...herself?...gets a man? was she even looking for one? I DON'T KNOW!!! This is the problem with the film in a nutshell.
BUT, I give diva points for her slightly aged hotness and some chaplin-esque slapstick humor to boot.
It charmed me.
Touched some faded lesbian thing in me. I kept chuckling at the wrong times and whispering to Simone some random Jodie Foster lesbian fact. She told me to be quite so she could hear the film. Simone didn't get it but it felt good to share... hence my love for the evening and seeing the film.
